Our Story

The Beginning

Cut Loose Manufacturing grew from a lifelong passion for the fabrication industry. The journey began in 2016, when founder Tyler's interest in craftsmanship intensified. Through engineering and automotive courses during his schooling, he developed not only his skills but also a strong entrepreneurial drive, leading to the creation of "Cut Loose Fabrication."

The first major leap occurred in 2021. Using hard-earned savings from his work as a cabinetmaker, Tyler built a 6x8m shed in his parents' backyard and invested in his first 1200x1200 CNC plasma cutter. Faced with a steep learning curve in CNC technology, he dedicated himself to mastering the machine, gradually building a portfolio of customers through friends and family.

Growth and Partnership

In early 2023, a pivotal partnership was formed with long-time friend, Alex. They combined Tyler's deep knowledge of fabrication with Alex's expertise in offroad American vehicles to launch a new venture, "Shift Industries," developing high-quality aftermarket components for the offroad market. Their work with other industry leaders quickly revealed the limitations of their CNC plasma cutter for production-level work.

A Commitment to Australian Made

Faced with unreliable outsourcing options, both founders doubled down on a core belief: the importance of keeping manufacturing on Australian soil. They pooled their life savings to purchase their first 3000x1500 Fiber Laser, an ambitious upgrade they managed to fit into the very same backyard shed where it all started.

This new machine opened up a world of possibilities, expanding their capabilities far beyond their initial vision. It was this moment that transformed the business into what it is today: Cut Loose Manufacturing.
